What is a delivery group?

A delivery group is a defined area where you are able to deliver customer orders. It helps you manage and organise which locations are included for deliveries on specific days.

Important: Add Start and End Addresses First

Before creating a delivery area, ensure that the start and end addresses for deliveries are added to the system. These are usually your hub’s addresses, but alternative points can be added if needed. See the guide on Manually Adding Addresses for more details.

Steps to Create a Delivery Group:

  1. Add Start and End Addresses to the System

  2. Add the delivery area name and code.

  3. Edit the delivery area details

1. Add Start and End Addresses to the System

Navigate to Customers > Add Address in the Admin Dashboard.

  • Begin typing the address; if recognised, select the correct option.

  • If the address is not recognised or the red pin is incorrect, use manual override to adjust the address fields and pin location.

  • Click Save.

2. Add the Delivery Area Name and Code

Navigate to Settings > Customer Mapping.

  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and fill in the fields:

    • Name: Enter a name for your delivery area (e.g., "Greenacres North").

    • Area Code: Assign a unique 3-letter code for this area (e.g., "GAN").

  • Click Create Area.
The new delivery area will now be visible and editable in Delivery Group Management.

3. Edit the Delivery Area Details

After creating the delivery area, you can customise its settings to match your delivery needs.

  • Navigate to Settings > Delivery Groups in the Admin Dashboard.

    • Click Edit next to the delivery area you wish to modify.

    • Update the following fields:

  • Name & Delivery Area Code: Editable values from the previous step (2).

  • Delivery Day: Choose the appropriate delivery day based on your order cut-off times:

    • For single delivery days, select the day.

    • For multiple delivery days with one cut-off, select the first delivery day of the week.

    • For multiple delivery days with different cut-offs, choose the appropriate delivery day for the area.

  • Delivery Delay: If deliveries happen over multiple days, set a delay (e.g., 0 for same-day, 1 for next-day, etc.).

  • Packing Delay: Match this to the delivery delay

  • Packing Priority: Choose the order in which this area is packed (1, 2, 3, etc.), which helps in organising the packing process

  • Driver: Assign a driver to the delivery area. The driver must be added to the system as a customer and assigned the role of Delivery Person. See Managing User Roles

  • Label Colour: Choose a label colour for easy identification.

  • Start/End Address: Choose the start and end addresses added in Step 1. These are typically your hub addresses, but can be different if needed.

  • Requires Printout: Tick this box to require printouts for deliveries.

  • Is Drop Site: Ensure this box is not checked.

  • Access Code: Only relevant to drop-sites. See article on how to create a drop site

After all the details have been entered, click Save.

Mapping Your Delivery Routes

Once you’ve created your delivery groups, the next step is to map out your delivery areas. This ensures that your deliveries are efficiently organised and that there’s no overlap between areas. To learn how to precisely map your delivery areas, follow the detailed steps in the Mapping Delivery Routes guide.

Key Settings to Remember

  • Driver Setup: Ensure drivers are registered as customers and assigned the role of Delivery Person before they can be added to a delivery area.

  • Start/End Address: These addresses guide the delivery process, so make sure they are correctly added to the system beforehand.

  • Packing Priority: This setting helps manage how orders are prepared and packed for delivery, ensuring smooth logistics.

  • Delivery Day: Double-check that you’ve selected the correct day to match your delivery schedule.

Conclusion

Setting up delivery groups in Ooooby helps ensure that orders are delivered efficiently within specific areas. By following these steps and making sure to map out your delivery routes correctly, you can keep your delivery operations well-organised and streamlined. Be sure to consult the Mapping Delivery Routes guide to finalise your delivery zone setup.
