What Are Delivery Areas and Drop Sites?

Delivery Area

A delivery area is a zone where a specific driver delivers customer orders. Before creating a delivery area, ensure that:

  • A start and end point for the driver is entered into the system.

  • The driver's name has been added.

Drop Site

A drop site is a collection point where multiple customers can pick up their orders.

  • You can set a drop-site as private so only specific customers can see and use it, by adding an access code.

  • Ensure the drop-site's address is added before creating it. See Manually Adding Addresses.

Adding Delivery Area & Drop Site Names

  1. Navigate to Customer Area Mapping:

    • Go to Settings > Customer Mapping in the Admin Dashboard.

  2. Enter Information:

    • Fill in the blank fields at the bottom of the page:

      • Name: Enter the name of the delivery area (e.g. Thursday 1) or drop site (e.g. Collect from Farm).

      • Area Code: Assign a 3-letter code (e.g. TH1 for delivery areas, CFF for drop sites).

  3. Create the Area:

    • Click Create Area. The new delivery area or drop site will now be visible and editable in Delivery Group Management.

Editing Delivery Areas & Drop Sites

  1. Navigate to Delivery Groups:

    • Go to Settings > Delivery Groups in the Admin Dashboard.

  2. Edit the Selected Area:

    • Click Edit next to the delivery area or drop-site you want to modify.

  3. Update the Fields:

    • Name & Delivery Area Code: Values created in the previous step which are editable.

    • Delivery Day: Choose the appropriate delivery day based on your order cut-off times:

      • Single delivery day: Select the delivery day.

      • Multiple delivery days, one cut-off: Select the first delivery day of the week.

      • Multiple delivery days, multiple cut-offs: Select the delivery day for this delivery area.

    • Delivery Delay: For multiple delivery days, set the delay for areas delivered after the first day (0 for same day, 1 for next day, etc.).

    • Packing Delay: Match this to the delivery delay.

    • Packing Priority: Choose the order in which to pack this route (1, 2, 3, etc.).

    • Driver: Select the driver for the delivery area or drop-site host. Ensure the driver has been added as a customer beforehand.

    • Label Colour: Choose a label colour to help drivers distinguish deliveries.

    • Start/End Address: Enter the starting and ending addresses (usually the hub address). If they differ, ensure the alternative addresses have been added to the system. N.B. This address will need to be added to the system first; see Manually Adding Addresses.

    • Requires Printout: Tick this box to require printouts for deliveries.

    • Is Drop Site: Tick if this is a drop-site.

    • Access Code: Set an access code for private drop sites.

💡 Note: Access codes can be used for various reasons, such as:

  • Private drop sites (e.g., a group of friends or a school that only allows parents to collect).

  • Limiting access when a drop site has reached capacity and is no longer available for more customers.

  • Drop Site Instructions: Provide the collection point address and any specific instructions, such as:

    • Collection times (e.g., between 10am and 5pm).

    • Location details (e.g. "Collect from the farm barn")

📨 Important: These collection details will be included in the customer's registration confirmation email, as written in this field.

  • Once all fields are updated, click Save.

By following these steps, you can efficiently manage both delivery areas and drop sites ensuring smooth deliveries and convenient pick-up locations for your customers.
