Adding products to your Ooooby site is a crucial step in showcasing your offerings to customers, whether they're individual add-on items like a loaf of bread or core items such as a Large Veg Box. This guide provides a detailed walk through on creating and managing your product listings efficiently.

Product Categories Explained

  • Individual Product: Items that can be sold separately or included within a box. Example: A loaf of bread.

  • Core Item: Essential products that every customer must select at least one of, typically a type of box. Example: Large Veg Box.

Product Priority Levels

  • Flagship: Highest visibility, shown first in categories and featured during the sign-up process.

  • High Profile: Second highest priority, following Flagship products.

  • Normal Products: Standard visibility, listed after Flagship and High Profile products in alphabetical order.

  • Crew Only: Invisible to customers on the website or dashboard, only visible to crew for internal operations. Setting a product to Crew Only keeps it on customer's existing orders.

Steps for Creating Products

NB: Before adding products you need to create product categories in the system. Refer to this article for more information on how to create product categories.

Accessing Product Management

  1. Log into your admin dashboard to begin.

  2. Navigate to the Products section and click on All Products.

  3. Click the 'Add Product' button to start creating a new listing.

Filling Product Information

  • Name: Enter the product's name (e.g., Salad Bag - Mixed Leaves).

  • Active: Ensure this is ticked to make the product visible on your website.

  • Short Name & Label Name: Provide a shortened version for labels (e.g., Salad Bag).

  • Unit Amount: Specify the unit, either as each (ea) or by weight.

  • Category: Select the appropriate category for the product.

  • Price: Set the selling price.

  • Product Type: Choose between Core Item or Add On.

  • Refrigeration & Freshness: Indicate if the product requires refrigeration or is packed fresh daily, affecting how it's handled and labeled.

  • Product Delivery Method: Select Via Subscription (the default and often only option).

  • Product Visibility & Order Visibility: Define where and how the product appears on the site.

  • Supplier Name & Associated Person Profile: Link the product to its supplier.

  • Certifications: Add any relevant certifications.

  • Tax Rate: Ensure the correct tax rate is applied based on the product type.

  • Product Image: Upload a high-quality image of the product.

  • Description: Provide a detailed description of the product.

  • Add On Details: Tick 'subscribable' if customers can subscribe to this product. This tick box is situated right at the bottom of the page. If you are adding a core product the tick box won't be visible as core products are automatically added as subscribable. For add on products you might not want them to be subscribable if you don't know that the product is going to be available every single week. In this case leave the box unticked and the product will only be available to order as a one-off.

  • On Map: If applicable, specify the product's origin location on the map provided. By setting an origin location the distance (in kilometres) of how far away the item was produced will be displayed on the customer's dashboard, helping to promote how local the fod is that you are selling.

  • Click Save to add your product to the site.

Managing Product Subscriptions and Replacements

  • If a product is unavailable, including for customers who have already ordered the product, make sure to untick the Active box. To add a replacement option, selecting a replacement will automatically update customer subscriptions. If no replacement is chosen, the product will drop off customer subscriptions. More information can be found here.

Tips for Effective Product Listings

  • Quality Images: Ensure each product has a clear, appealing image to attract customer interest.

  • Detailed Descriptions: Provide comprehensive descriptions to inform and entice customers.

  • Categorisation: Accurately categorise products for easy navigation and discovery.

  • Update Regularly: Keep product listings up to date with current offerings, availability, and seasonal items.

You might like to bundle your core products. Creating product bundles is a strategic way to showcase multiple similar products, such as different types of veg boxes or fruit boxes, under one umbrella on your Ooooby hub's homepage. This approach not only simplifies the browsing experience for customers but also ensures that your core offerings are prominently displayed. For more details on creating core products click here

By following these detailed steps, you can efficiently manage your product offerings on your Ooooby site, ensuring your customers have access to fresh, desirable products while also maintaining an organised and attractive online presence.
