Setting up your own domain with your Ooooby site can take as little as 5 minutes of your time if you know where to make the required changes. Although the changes are technical, they're not complex and we can walk you through them.
Choosing your domain name
I already have a domain name
Know Your Registrar: Your domain's DNS records are managed by your domain registrar. Make sure you know how to access and change your DNS records. If unsure about your registrar, the ICANN lookup tool can help you find out.
Using Your Domain: Decide whether you want to use your domain primarily for your Ooooby site (e.g., www.myfarm.com) or if you'd like to set up a subdomain (e.g., shop.myfarm.com). This choice affects how you'll configure your DNS settings.
You might use a subdomain if you already have a website set up at your primary domain, and would like to keep this alongside your Ooooby site.
I don't have a domain name
You can register a domain yourself, some reputable providers include Namecheap, Domain.com or Cloudflare.
Setup
1. Add the following DNS record, where <your-chosen-subdomain> is the first part of your chosen domain - e.g. 'www', or 'shop'.
Type: CNAME
Host / Name: <your-chosen-subdomain>
Value / Content / Data: sites.ooooby.cloud
If you use Cloudflare as your DNS provider, ensure that proxying is turned OFF for the CNAME entry (it should have a grey cloud icon).
2. Email us at [email protected] or contact us through the chat, to let us know which domain you've chosen and to confirm you've added it to your DNS records. We'll check it's connected, and link it as your primary domain.
Technical details
If you are currently running a shop on the domain you want to use and you want to minimise any down-time, contact us for a different set up process.
If using an apex domain (no subdomain), ensure your DNS provider supports CNAME flattening for the DNS step. If not, consider setting up a free Cloudflare account, or contact us for other options.
If you are using 'www' as your subdomain (e.g.
www.myfarm.com) you may want to redirect your apex domain (no subdomain, likemyfarm.com) to your 'www' domain. This can often be done through your domain registrar. Contact us if you need help setting this up.
