Assigning drivers to access route information without giving them unnecessary administrative access is crucial for maintaining security and operational efficiency in any delivery-based platform. This guide provides a straightforward process for adding delivery drivers as customers first and then assigning them the necessary roles to access route information.
Step 1: Add as a Customer
Note: This step is only necessary if the driver is not already registered as a customer on your platform.
Go to
Customers > Add Customer.Fill in the required information. At least one phone number is mandatory.
Click the 'Create Customer' button.
Step 2: Assign Delivery Driver Role
Use the search field to navigate to the Driver's Customer Overview.
Navigate to 'Customer Details' and then select 'More Options'. Choose 'Edit Roles'.
The customer role will already be selected. Just add the 'Delivery Person' role.
Step 3: Send A Password
Note: This step is required only if you've created the delivery person's account in Step 1.
Within the Driver's Customer Overview, navigate to 'Customer Details', press More Options > Edit Details.
Scroll to the bottom and click 'Reset password'.
If the delivery person was already a customer and assigned the Delivery Person role in Step 2, they would already have a password.
Step 4: Add to Routes or Drop Sites
Go to
Settings > Delivery Groups.Choose the specific delivery group for the assignment.
Begin typing the person's name in the 'Driver' field and select their name from the drop-down menu.
Click 'Save' to finalise the assignment.
Delivery Person Access to Routes
Once the delivery person logs into their account, accessing their assigned routes is straightforward:
Drivers can access these routes via
MyDeliveries on the admin dashboard. They will be directed to the Ooooby Deliveries Tool to view their routes.
By following these steps, you ensure that delivery drivers have the necessary access to perform their duties efficiently without unnecessary access to sensitive administrative functions.
