Supported browsers

The minimum browser versions needed to use Ooooby on desktop and mobile. Includes how to check which version you have and how to update if your browser is out of date.

Written by Davy van de Vusse

Ooooby works in all current web browsers. If you're using a browser released in the last few years, you don't need to do anything.

If your browser is older than the versions below, some parts of Ooooby may not load or work correctly. You'll usually see a message at the top of the page letting you know.

How to check your browser version

  • Chrome: Menu (⋮) → Help → About Google Chrome

  • Edge: Menu (…) → Help and feedback → About Microsoft Edge

  • Firefox: Menu (☰) → Help → About Firefox

  • Safari on Mac: Safari menu → About Safari

  • Safari on iPhone or iPad: Settings → General → About → Software Version (Safari matches your iOS version)

  • Android: Play Store → Menu → Manage apps and device → your browser

On desktop, opening the About screen usually checks for and installs any available update automatically. You may need to restart the browser afterwards.

If your browser can't be updated

Browsers are tied to your operating system, so an older computer or phone may not be able to install a newer version.

On a Mac: Safari updates come with macOS. If Safari can't be updated, check for a macOS update under System Settings → General → Software Update. If your Mac can't run a newer macOS, install Chrome or Firefox instead — both still support older Macs and will work with Ooooby.

On an iPhone or iPad: Every browser on iOS uses the same underlying engine as Safari, so installing Chrome or Firefox won't help. You'll need to update iOS under Settings → General → Software Update.

On Windows 7 or 8.1: These versions of Windows no longer receive security updates from Microsoft. The final browser versions available for them (Chrome 109, Edge 109, Firefox 115 ESR) will still work with Ooooby, but we'd strongly recommend moving to a supported version of Windows.

Still having trouble?

If you're on a supported browser and something still isn't working, try clearing your cache or opening Ooooby in a private/incognito window — an extension or a stale cached file is often the cause. If that doesn't help, get in touch and let us know which browser and version you're using.
