This guide walks through the process of adding a new delivery route and efficiently reassigning a large volume of existing customers to that new route within a processing order. This is a useful process for handling special delivery periods, such as holidays, or managing temporary routing changes.
1. Creating the New Delivery Route
The first step is to establish the new route within the processing order, defining its basic properties.
Steps:
Navigate to the Active Order screen showing the current orders.
Click on the 'Deliveries' dropdown menu located in the processing toolbar.
Select Add Route.
On the "Add Delivery Route" screen, fill in the following details:
Route Name: Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "Christmas Deliveries").
Route Code: Enter a short, unique code (e.g., "XMS").
Packing Priority: Set the priority (e.g., 1).
Ensure 'Requires Printout' is checked if physical manifest/label printouts are needed.
Click the Add Route button.
A confirmation message ("Delivery route successfully added") will appear, taking you to the "Delivery Route Details" screen. No further changes are needed here, as the orders will be assigned later.
Click the Back button to return to the main processing screen.
2. Reassigning Orders to the New Route
With the new route established, you can now use the map-based tool to visually select and move orders from an existing route to the new one.
Steps:
On the main processing screen, click the 'Deliveries' dropdown again.
Select Reassign Order Routes. This will open a map view displaying all orders grouped by their current route (colour-coded).
Select the Orders:
If you hold shift, you can drag a rectangle around the cluster of orders you wish to reassign. This will select all the orders (pins) within that geographical area.
The total number of selected orders will update at the bottom of the screen (e.g., "219 orders selected").
Assign to New Route:
In the dropdown menu at the bottom left of the screen, change the selected route from the original route (e.g., "Devon Tuesday") to the newly created route ("Christmas Deliveries").
Click the Assign to Route button.
A success message will confirm the assignment (e.g., "219 orders assigned to Christmas Deliveries").
Click the Back button.
3. Verifying the Route Change
Once back on the main processing screen, you can quickly verify that the assignment was successful.
Steps:
Locate one of the orders that was previously on the old route (e.g., the Devon order).
Check the Route row for that order. It should now display the Route Code of the new route (e.g., "XMS") alongside the delivery day ("Tue") and the total number of orders on that delivery run (e.g., "219").
This completes the process of creating a new route and reassigning orders, allowing for flexible management of your delivery logistics.
